Hi! Welcome to Rants Reviews, a site geared for Canadian families. My name is Jodi & I’m the owner of this site. I started blogging 3 years ago as a way to connect with other parents who were raising a child with special needs and dealing with being a caregiver. I am the proud mom of 3 boys.
-
The oldest JJ is a teen (help me now!)
-
Our middle son Colty (my stepson) is 9
-
And our youngest, Trace just turned 6
Trace was born with mild Cerebral Palsy. It’s been a long journey and being a caregiving to both him and my husband, whom we call Forgetful Dad because he has a brain injury. Life can be pretty challenging at times, especially living with someone who forgets everything.
I love posting pics of my kids (on our personal blog) and love anything geek. Yes I’m a member of the geek squad, a self-taught graphics/web-designer. I love anything tech, gadgety or having to do with computers.
My first love is writing, and I love doing product reviews and sharing my opinion on products that not only work but can help make life easier for Canadian families like us, trying to get by, raise their kids, and enjoy each moment as it comes.
What Have I learned being a mom to BOYS?
-
They stink!
-
They think their flatulence is amusing, especially in large on-looking crowds.
-
They have no clue what a garbage can is, and that the floor is an apparent dumping ground.
-
They will tell you how they feel when they want something (openly and rudely) but when you want them to talk to you – they suddenly suffer from a case of amnesia.
-
They love anything that is loud, growls, revs, raps, scrapes, is dangerous and can impress the girls around them.
-
They don’t understand the meaning of “take a bath!” stating they aren’t dirty they are just overly scruffy.
-
Anything with the word pee or poop makes them giggle uncontrollably, often sounding like high pitched girls, which only makes them laugh even harder.
-
They love their moms without condition. They want to be like their dads when they grow up.
-
They are the best thing to happen since strawberry cheesecake!
Meet Forgetful Dad
Hi! My name is Corey (they call me) Forgetful Dad and I’m a contributing writer and reviewer here at Rants Reviews.
As Jodi told you I have a brain injury. So basically I go to sleep every night and wake up the next day not remembering the events from what happened the day before. Like 50 first dates (movie) except I remember my family and friends, just not where I went or what I did. My brain injury stems from a motorcycle accident before my 19th birthday and everything in my life changed. My life also began the moment I met my wife, became a dad and discovered you don’t need to remember in order to live life the way you want to.
My motto: Peace, Love and Harmony is something that has kept me going for years. I truly believe the human spirit is capable of anything and do my best each and every day to live my life to the fullest.
I’m new to blogging and Jodi is showing me the ropes. I want to bring awareness to you guys about brain injuries, being a dad with a disability and raising a son with special needs and the challenges that go along with that.
I will also give tips on married life, and parenting a child with special needs and the relationship I have with my boys.
As a reviewer, I hope to bring more awareness to products geared for men. I don’t think there are enough dad bloggers in the online world. So I hope to add some fun, spark and creativity to that avenue.
I look forward to connecting with all of you, reading your comments and showing you guys some really cool products. I also wish to say thank you to everyone for your support of my wife and all the hard work she’s done here at R & R.
